Most artists eventually reach a threshold where their brushes feel like they are merely tracing old ghosts. We fall into the safety of set templates, the comfort of familiar palettes, and the stagnation of routines that once served us but now feel like a cage. We become masters of our own repetition, trapped by skills we worked so hard to acquire. This September, in Catalunya, we are not just going to learn to paint. We are going to unlearn everything we know.
To find your authentic visual language, you must be willing to burn down the structures that hold you back. Search and Destroy is a figurative and expressive painting workshop for those who feel trapped at the plateau. It is a process of excavation, where we use your past experiences and subconscious as raw material, digging for the works that carry weight.
We will spend our time intentionally breaking free from our pre-made compositions and refining to scrape back the layers to reveal the history and grit beneath the surface. We destroy the "accomplished" parts of your work to find traces of new life in the debris. This is a guided search for the unique signature of your intuition. We’re not here to produce "pretty pictures"; we are here to bridge the gap between your technical ability and your emotional truth. This workshop is a deep dive into the psyche, a space where we address the past to work in the now, ensuring that the work you create is something the "future you" would respect and claim. Understanding that the ashes are not a sign of failure, but the fertile ground for a more authentic identity. In the wreckage of your old routines, your true voice is waiting.

YOUR STAY
Your Arrival & First Day
On the first day, we’ll ease into the experience with a relaxed and welcoming start. We offer two group transfers from Life Drawing Barcelona in the city center at different times during the day. Once everyone has arrived at the venue, we’ll gather for a welcome and introduction session, where we’ll go over the schedule and details of the week ahead. Afterward, you’ll be assigned your room, and we’ll enjoy a laid-back evening with delicious local food and drinks—an opportunity to unwind and get to know each other.
The Workshop Experience
The following day, we’ll dive into five consecutive days of intensive learning with your chosen tutor. The detailed workshop itinerary will be shared on arrival. Throughout the week, we’ll also enjoy field trips, communal dinners, and fun evenings—all carefully arranged so you can focus entirely on learning, creating, and making the most of your time. Throughout the workshop, each participant will have a one-on-one session with their tutor for a personalized portfolio review.
Departure
On the morning of the 7th day, we’ll provide an early group transfer back to the city center, returning to Life Drawing Barcelona, and one later in the afternoon. See our faq’s for travel information.
